From the sea to 2,000 metres in about two hours
From the airport you follow the Var valley, then turn into the Tinée valley at Saint-Sauveur-sur-Tinée. The road runs beside gorges, goes through small villages and climbs in hairpins for the last section to the resort. Outside holiday periods, allow between an hour forty-five and two hours fifteen for about ninety-five kilometres.
There is no bypass in winter: if an incident blocks the valley, the chauffeur waits for the reopening with you rather than sending you on a risky detour. That is why an early start is better than leaving in the last hours of the day.
