Private transfer Nice Airport → Courchevel

Getting from Nice to Courchevel is not an ordinary transfer: it is a crossing of the Alps, 6h30 to 7h30 on the road, better tackled in a prestige saloon with a rested chauffeur than at the wheel of a rental car. Here is what to know before you book.

A day on the road: Grenoble, Chambéry, Albertville

The reference route leaves the Riviera by the A8, joins the A51 towards Grenoble, then continues on the A41 towards Chambéry and the A43 to Albertville. From there the Tarentaise road climbs through Moûtiers towards the Three Valleys, and the last ascent leads to Courchevel. Allow about five hundred and sixty kilometres and 6h30 to 7h30, stops excluded.

Depending on traffic, snow and the closure of tunnels or passes, the chauffeur may prefer to go through Italy, via Turin and the Fréjus tunnel. He or she decides at departure, with the road information of the day, and tells you if the route changes. A lunch stop or a break is planned along the way.

Holiday Saturdays: the Tarentaise fills up

The last kilometres, between Albertville and Moûtiers and then to the resort, are known for queues on school-holiday Saturdays and at Christmas: skiers from all over Europe change stay on the same day. In that case allow 8h to 11h in total. If your dates are flexible, a weekday transfer or an overnight departure reduces the risk significantly.

Leave Nice early in the morning to reach Courchevel before dark, when the mountain road is easier to read. If you travel on a Saturday, tell us the arrival time you want and we work out the departure with you, using the most cautious estimates.

Altiport, helicopter and winter equipment

Courchevel has an altiport, and a helicopter or private flight from Nice saves many hours. We offer helicopter transfers to the Alps on request: see our helicopter page. We can then arrange the ride between the altiport and your chalet or hotel in the resort.

By road, our vehicles are equipped for winter conditions and for carrying skis. In Savoie, winter equipment is compulsory from 1 November to 31 March on the mountain roads concerned. For a family or a group with a full week of equipment, the V-Class van takes up to 7 passengers with their luggage.

In Savoie the obligation is met with winter tyres or, failing that, snow chains or snow socks taken along in the vehicle; the chauffeur takes care of it. On a stage of this length the V-Class van gives families and groups more room, with up to 7 passengers and their luggage, and a 16-seat minibus is possible beyond that. Tell us how many pairs of skis and suitcases you are bringing, and we confirm the right vehicle.
