Isola 2000, Auron and Valberg: the resorts closest to Nice

The resorts of the Mercantour and of the Nice hinterland are about two hours from the airport. Isola 2000 is reached through the Tinée valley: allow 1h45 to 2h15 for about 95 km. Auron takes 1h45 to 2h15 for about 100 km, along the same valley as far as Saint-Étienne-de-Tinée. Valberg is reached through the Daluis or Cians gorges, in 1h40 to 2h10 for about 90 km.

These three resorts have no serious alternative road: the chauffeur picks the valley or the gorge according to the weather of the day and tells you if the timing changes. Leaving in the morning lets you drop your bags before noon and put your skis on in the afternoon.

Courchevel and Méribel: crossing the Alps

The Three Valleys call for a full day on the road. Courchevel is about 560 km away, 6h30 to 7h30 via Grenoble, Chambéry and Albertville. Méribel is about 545 km away, 6h15 to 7h15, on the same route as far as Moûtiers. Tell us when you book if you want stops, for example for children.

To save a day you can also consider a helicopter to the Alps, on request: everything is explained on the helicopter transfer page. We then arrange the ride between the altiport and your accommodation.

Holiday Saturdays: choosing the right departure time

On school-holiday Saturdays and at Christmas, skiers change stay on the same day and the roads fill up. Journeys then get longer: 2h30 to 3h30 for Isola 2000 and Auron, 2h20 to 3h20 for Valberg, 7h50 to 10h40 for Méribel and 8h to 11h for Courchevel.

If your dates are flexible, a weekday transfer avoids most of the waiting. For a return to the airport, give us your flight time: we work out the departure from the resort with a margin suited to the snow and the traffic.

The day you arrive: from the airport to the chalet

Your chauffeur waits in the arrivals hall with a sign bearing your name. You receive the name, photo and direct number before you land, and we follow your flight in real time: a delay changes nothing about the pickup, because waiting time is included, 60 minutes for an international flight and 30 minutes for a domestic one.

He or she helps you with the luggage and the equipment to the vehicle, then drives you to your chalet, hotel or residence. Give the name and the exact address of your accommodation when you book: in the resorts some access roads are narrow or snowy, and the chauffeur plans the drop-off as close to the door as possible.

Winter equipment, skis and luggage

Our vehicles are equipped for winter conditions and for carrying skis. From 1 November to 31 March, winter equipment is compulsory on the mountain roads concerned (Loi Montagne): the chauffeur takes care of it, you have nothing to arrange.

An E-Class saloon suits one or two travellers and their luggage, an S-Class adds the comfort of a high-end ride, and the V-Class van takes up to 7 passengers with their luggage. For a larger group we also have a 16-seat minibus. See the whole fleet and tell us how many people, pairs of skis or snowboards and suitcases you have: we choose the vehicle accordingly.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How long is the transfer from Nice airport to the ski resorts?+

Outside the holidays, allow 1h40 to 2h10 for Valberg, 1h45 to 2h15 for Isola 2000 and Auron, 6h15 to 7h15 for Méribel and 6h30 to 7h30 for Courchevel.

Do journeys take longer on holiday Saturdays?+

Yes, because skiers arrive and leave on the same day. On a Saturday, plan for 2h30 to 3h30 to Isola 2000 and Auron, 2h20 to 3h20 to Valberg, 7h50 to 10h40 to Méribel and 8h to 11h to Courchevel.

Is the vehicle equipped to drive on snow?+

Yes, our vehicles are equipped for winter conditions. If the road becomes too difficult, the chauffeur decides how to proceed for your safety and tells you about any change of timing.

Can we take skis and snowboards, and how much luggage in a V-Class?+

Yes, ski and snowboard equipment travels with you. The V-Class van takes up to 7 passengers with their luggage. State the number of pairs and suitcases when you book and we confirm the suitable vehicle; a 16-seat minibus exists for large groups.

How do I book a chauffeur for the resort?+

Fill in the form on this page with your flight, your resort and the number of passengers. The fixed fare is given to you before you book, and no payment is requested at this stage.

Travelling with children: can we arrange seats?+

Yes, child seats are available on request. State the number and age of the children when you book so that the vehicle is ready on your arrival, and say if you would like stops on a long journey.

Can I book a one-way transfer?+

Yes. One-way trips and return trips are both possible: say so in your request, with the time of your return flight if you leave from Nice.

How far in advance should I book?+

We recommend booking at least 2 to 3 weeks ahead in high season, over the Christmas and February holidays, to guarantee availability.

Is the fare fixed whichever road is taken?+

The price is set before you book, tolls and fuel included. A detour through another valley or through Italy, decided by the chauffeur, does not change the fare quoted.

Can we reach Courchevel or Méribel by helicopter?+

Yes, on request: we organise helicopter transfers to the Alps. See the helicopter page, and we then plan the ride between the altiport and your accommodation.
