From the airport, the quickest way follows the A8 motorway eastbound and then the Monaco exit, with several tunnels towards the end. The 30 kilometres take about half an hour when traffic is flowing. Your chauffeur also knows the alternatives: the Basse Corniche, which runs along the sea through Villefranche-sur-Mer and Beaulieu-sur-Mer, or the Moyenne Corniche if an incident closes the motorway.

The Principality covers barely two square kilometres, yet its addresses are very different. Your chauffeur can take you to the door of a hotel on Place du Casino in Monte-Carlo, to a residence in Fontvieille or Larvotto, or to the quayside at Port Hercule if you are joining a yacht. Give the exact address when you book: the chauffeur plans the access in advance, so the dense traffic around the Casino is no longer your concern.

Your chauffeur speaks fluent French and English. He or she waits in a suit, with a sign bearing your name, in the arrivals hall and helps with your luggage to the vehicle, so the journey to Monaco is handled with complete discretion.

In some weeks Monaco is a different place.
